Of the two well-known coconut varieties—the sweet young Nam Hom coconut and the mature coconut—the Nam Hom coconut from Ratchaburi has a distinctive flavor and smell reminiscent of pandan leaves. The Samutsakorn coconut, on the other hand, which can be identified by the three wrinkles on the base, is sweet and rich in potassium. The mineral-rich soil, water, and climate in these areas give Nam Hom coconuts their distinctive flavor.

Mature coconuts thrive better in river basins than in areas with a lack of rainfall. The southern provinces of Thailand are suitable areas for growing mature coconuts. August to September is the peak harvest time for these coconuts, which are only harvested every 45 to 60 days. Weather conditions have a significant influence on the growth of these plants.
